Mission


The International Association of Sports Newspapers (IASN) exists to defend and promote the values of sport and the interests and freedom of the sport press.

Its purpose is to represent nationally and internationally its members in:


  • Fulfilling the role of negotiatior between the sports newspapers and the international sports organizations.
  • Promoting the role of sports newspapers as a specific marketing tool for the brands associated with the world of sport.
  • Encouraging young people and sport's professionals in volunteering in sport activities, and developing the exchange of information and best practices on volunteering in sport.
  • Identifying key challenges for non-profit sport organizations and the main characteristics of services provided by these organizations.
  • Promoting, as regards racism and xenophobia, the dialogue and exchange of best practices, in the existing and to be created cooperation framework.
  • Promoting a multidisciplinary approach to preventing anti-social behavior, with a special focus given to socio-educational actions such as fan-coaching (long-term work with supporter to develop a positive and non-violent attitude).
  • Promoting the use of sport as a tool in national and international development policies.  

  • Studying all questions of interest to sports newspapers, solutions to which can be found, in whole or in part, at the national or international level.
  • Safeguarding the ethical and economic interests of sports newspapers
